About Me

Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia,  I was blessed to have three sisters, (one of which is my identical twin) and a brother.  After finishing high school, I attended the University of Georgia at Athens.  There I obtained a degree in Art Education.  I wasn't ready to settle down to a 'real' job so I played for a few years. After a while, I realized that I wanted to become a special education teacher.  I spent several years obtaining the necessary degrees to teach.  During that time, I met and married the love of my life.  In 1993 we settled in Hatteras Village to raise our three sons.  My husband, Ken, is a hunting and fishing guide on the Pamlico Sound.  All of our sons have completed high school at Cape Hatteras High School and have gone on to pursue their futures.

On Hatteras Island, I first taught special education and then moved into the regular classroom.  For the past 24 years, I have put my artwork on the back burner in order to devote everything to teaching and raising my sons.  As of August 1, 2011, I officially retired from teaching.  I am anxious and excited to begin the next chapter of my life....a life consumed by art!

For as long as I can remember, my parents exposed me to a wide variety of art mediums.  Although he was a very busy doctor, my father mastered the arts of pottery, furniture making, and wine making.  Even now, in his mid 80's, he is learning how to paint with watercolors.  My mom taught me the arts of cooking, canning, sewing, and gardening...all of which I still love to do.  I am so grateful that my parents raised me to believe that I am capable of doing anything I set my mind to.

There hasn't been a time in my life that I wasn't consumed by some form of art.  I know that my artistic abilities are a true gift from God. Romans 12:6 says 'We all have different gifts, each of which came because of the grace God gave us.'(NCV) God has blessed me greatly and my wish is that God will bless you through my artwork.

May the Lord bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand today and everyday!
